Cornelius is a fable by Leo Lionni and is a great TL. Leo Lionni has told several other fables such as Frederick, which is one of his more well known stories. Having retold several other stories Leo Lionni would be a great author to do an AS on as a class or in small groups. Cornelius is all about a crocodile that can walk standing upright and when the other crocodiles don‘t seem to care he goes off and meets a monkey that teaches him other tricks
Cornelius by Leo Lionni is listed as traditional literature (TL) also as won Caldecott honor award for his cute and silly book. Children in the elementary level and early middle school will enjoy this book. Cornelius was a unique reptile and he could do things that his friends couldn't do. One day Cornelius meets a friend and he ask him if he will show him how to stand on his head and swing by his tail. It'll allow students to understand that
