Holy moly! Super important read for any math teacher K-12, but also great information for parents as well.
I‘m so excited to be teaching again this fall with this knowledge!

I feel this book is incredibly idealistic, but it also has great explanations of the reasoning behind and examples of strategies to improve mathematical teaching and learning. I enjoyed the audio, but I had to find an ebook copy so I could see included figures and take better notes for my own reference. The emphasis on developing perseverance and depth of knowledge is key, and it gave me some clearer methods to try.

Daisey I received an audio version of this book through the #Librofm #ALC program. The duration of the audio is 8 hours 46 minutes. (edited) 5y
Kenyazero I try to always think about this when talking to anyone under 25. 5y

After teaching from home for a couple weeks, I‘ve developed lazy morning habits, so I‘m trying to change it up. This morning I started my day with a bit of garden work and #audiobook listening. I listened through breakfast, and I feel much more motivated to start my school work. Listening while I‘m using strictly online practice for math is kind of tough, but I also checked out an ebook copy to make notes for next year.

Math teachers, non-math teachers, and parents would all greatly benefit from reading this book. It gives great insight into where we‘ve gone wrong in math education. If you or your children ever struggled with timed math fact tests, there‘s a great chapter that addresses the issue and shares why those are damaging.
