Missusb I am done. Had to stop often, sniffle into tissues, and skim some of it, but I got through. Sort of. I am not sure 🤔 what kid is going to (want to?) read this... it's so depressing. It's so heart-wrenching. It's so sad. And there's the other matter - it's infused with magic realism elements so it's a bit difficult to figure out what's actually real. Is there ultimate hope? Look I am not sure. Are these kids alive at the end? Hmm, maybe? 7y

Because if subject matter makes it hard for me to read carefully and enjoyably, so that I am not even sure what's happening, well, surely that is not a successful novel... but it could be just my sensitivity to this type of harrowing story...
