It could be my jet lag or the fact that there was a 2 week hiatus between the time I started and completed this, but I didn‘t enjoy it. The protagonist seemed like she needed therapeutic intervention to deal with volcanic rage issues while the eponymous Sterling belonged on the unattractive end of the spoilt rich boy spectrum. A weak plot didn‘t help, & while poor logic may be a trait of teens, making it the dominant feature is an error.#romantsy

In my reading chair I rarely use (it needs a lamp and older children who can be left alone) with a book and a Kindle close. But mostly I‘m Litsy-ing.

This was a top teen contemporary read for me in 2017. When I heard about it, I first placed a hold through our ILL system but then decided I didn‘t want to wait the (at least) two weeks it would take to come in so I downloaded it on Kindle and very quickly devoured it. Now the print copy has come in and I‘m enjoying flipping through my favorite scenes.

Sterling reminds me of Logan Echols, though Sterling reforms a bit faster.

In the first time in what seems like forever, I read feverishly, devouring this one as fast as I could. A classic tale of opposites attract. Socially inept, rule-following Harper butts heads with the charming, troubled rich-boy Sterling. Sparks fly in more ways than one. I liked that they were both slightly unlikeable yet cared so deeply about people who mattered to them. And by the end, #SWOON. I have a new favorite teen romcom.

Why I Loathe Sterling Lane is a young adult contemporary romance by Ingrid Paulson. Why I Loathe Sterling Lane felt kind of like 10 Things I hate about you, which is a movie that I love. It was a really fun read, and I would love to see more from these characters. Why I Loathe Sterling Lane is a standalone novel, but I really want to see a 2 book, maybe when Harper and Sterling are in college. That would be a lot of fun.
