Star's End | Cassandra Rose Clarke
3 posts | 3 read | 3 to read
A new space opera about a young woman who must face the truth about her fathers past from critically acclaimed author Cassandra Rose Clarke. The Corominas family owns a small planet system, which consists of one gaseous planet and four terraformed moons, nicknamed the Four Sisters. Phillip Coromina, the patriarch of the family, earned his wealth through a manufacturing company he started as a young man and is preparing his eldest daughter, Esme, to take over the company when he dies. When Esme comes of age and begins to take over the business, she gradually discovers the reach of her fathers company, the sinister aspects of its work with alien DNA, and the shocking betrayal that estranged her three half-sisters from their father. After a lifetime of following her fathers orders, Esme must decide if she should agree to his dying wish of assembling her sisters for a last goodbye or face her role in her familys tragic undoing.

Mehso-so

A long and detailed read to be sure but once you have finished, in a way, those details helped to build the story. In this book, it shows we all have our own ways of dealing with situations that question our morals and ethics; and sometimes a person(s) should have a little faith in family members to do the right thing even when they have made some wrong choices. I could definitely see this as a movie or series one day.

Pickpick

Kinda accidentally disappeared here! I got engaged at the beginning of June & then got busy with work (summer reading) AND hit a reading slump.

But I really liked this one from Cassandra Rose Clarke. Intimate, thoughtful story with some cool SF aspects. If you like books with complicated family dynamics, this would also be a good one!
