I found out this year I have moderate OCD. It was such a freeing thing to hear in the sense that much like the author, I was misdiagnosed for a long time. This looks at OCD, but is not comprehensive as it is very much an autobiography of someone living with it to the point of being institutionalized. It is his story. I also enjoyed it because he is religious (not a religious book though) and addresses OCD and how the church feeds it. Niche

rachelm Hm! Which church? 7y

“I have found Catholicism and obsessive-compulsive disorder to be deeply sympathetic to each other. One is a repressive construct founded in existential terror, barely restrained by complex, arbitrary ritual behaviors; the other is an anxiety disorder.” 😂😂😂😂

rachelm Never mind my previous question! I see you answer it here! 7y
NerdyRev @rachelm He talks Catholicism, but it could be any that focuses on sexuality as “sin.” That is what he got stuck on in several places. 7y
