1 post | 2 read
1840s London: a city poised on the cusp of social change. Victorian England's traditional society labels Christopher Bennett a progressive, because the Bennett family strives to ensure the employees in their cotton mill enjoy safe conditions and fair wages. Despite his egalitarian beliefs, Christopher has never considered the issue of violence against women - until a chance encounter with Katerina Valentino opens his eyes to the harsh reality of their patriarchal society. Suffering constant beatings at the hand of her violent and unstable father, the delicate, dark-haired beauty fears for her life, until Christopher steps in and marries her. But years of abuse have left Katerina physically and emotionally scarred, threatening any chance at real happiness. Can Christopher's tender affection heal Katerina's broken spirit? A deeply moving historical romance, Keeping Katerina spins a yarn of hope beyond abuse, the quest for inner strength, and the healing power of love. "A beautifully written, well researched story." "-Margaret Tanner, author-" "Fresh air for regency romance." "-Sandra Martinez, author-" Amazon Bestseller in Victorian Romance. Contains graphic sexual content.

DNF
Such serious issues told terribly.
It read more like a manual then a story. I actually felt disgusted throughout the book, and I'm shocked and surprised I lasted to 60%
