6 posts | 8 read | 1 to read
Collects A-Force (2016) #5-10. A-Force is assembled but for how long? When a massive dragon attacks, She-Hulk, Captain Marvel, Medusa, Dazzler, Nico Minoru and Singularity spring into action! But this dragon is more than she seems and has much bigger plans including turning one of the teams heaviest hitters against her allies! Will A-Force meet an early end at the hands of one of their own? Or will they be torn apart by the looming CIVIL WAR II? For when a predictive vision proclaims that one member is a murderer, Captain Marvel takes action and a rift is created that sets in motion a chain of devastating events! Plus: A dazzling Thor steals the limelight! The foul-mouthed, gun-toting Elsa Bloodstone will blow you away! And the fate of A-Force may lie in the magical hands of Nico Minoru

This book was so enjoyable until the Civil War II tie in. It turned Captain Marvel and Medusa into such weird, facist fools, who have apparently never read any Sci-Fi. Then it had a faux “both sides, reach across the aisle” moment which didn‘t work, because one side of that aisle was so wrong. I recommend reading it and just pretending half the team was controlled by aliens for the last part.

So yesterday I was saying how great the other volume of this was. This one is argghhh ruined at the end by civil war 2. Seriously marvel will make these universe wide events that are bloody terrible!
So parts of this I still loved but I can‘t recommend this a whole heartedly.
Worst part is they then didn‘t make anymore of these so we end of a huge feeling of f you marvel.

And just when I thought Civil War 2 couldn't possibly ruin any other series that I like, look!! It totally fucked up A-Force! Awesome! I love it when characters and series I like are destroyed by horrible universe events! It makes me feel so good!!!!!!!!!! #haveneverbeenmoresarcastic #inmyentirelife #iwillbeshamingmarvelforCWii #foralleternity #bczStrongFemaleCharacterstillonlymeans #shewhoisemotionallystunted #andblindlydestroys #right????

silentrequiem The fuck is going on with Carol's boobs? #fabricdoesntworklikethat 7y
queerbookreader @silentrequiem Who knew that boobs could simultaneously lift & separate AND form perfect cleavage????????? #ohwait #theydont #andanairforcecolonelwouldntwearthis #inAZILLIONYEARS 7y
silentrequiem @queerbookreader I noticed Medusa's are doing the same thing. Comic artists, learn how boobs work. Ugh. 7y

queerbookreader @silentrequiem Have you read this series? It's got three trade volumes and this one tied in CW2 and it was horrible and ruined everything. The only not terrible part was that Thompson at least had the decency to end it with them not fighting anymore and making up. So at least the sexist trope of catfighting women was only perpetuated for......part of the book? :/ 7y
queerbookreader @silentrequiem Let me see who the cover artist was for this 7y
silentrequiem @queerbookreader I refused to read anything related to CW2 other than Mockingbird. I don't regret that decision at all. But I haven't read A-Force. Should I? 7y
queerbookreader @silentrequiem Okay Paulo Siqueira and Rachelle Rosenberg were the artists who did this cover. So clearly they don't know how boobs work. 7y
queerbookreader @silentrequiem Kind of hard to answer. So many of my fav series and characters were involved so I've had to power through a few CW2 trades, but only barely. This one doesn't get involved in it until the second half of v2, which is the third and last trade in the series before it ended or got cancelled or whatever. I really did enjoy it!!!!!! Like other than the cw2 tie in 7y
queerbookreader @silentrequiem I think it's worth reading because cw2 only messes with a few issues, and there's this character called Singularity who's introduced that is an absolute DELIGHT. And lady team up. Which is always good. So I vote yes but if you don't want to read the end of this v2 with the cw2 tie in, I can just summarize what happens for you 7y
silentrequiem @queerbookreader Awesome. I'll pick it up at some point. I have such a backlog to read! Do you read DC Bombshells? I think you'd like it. 7y
queerbookreader @silentrequiem I totally skipped Captain Marvel's trade with it, and I skipped Ms. Marvel's trade. Haven't read hers since v5. I suffered through Spider Woman v2 which I don't recommend, and........Patsy Walker v3 mentions it. But it's more about her struggling over Jen. I do highly recommend reading She Hulk's new series tho 7y
queerbookreader @silentrequiem HELL YES I READ DC BOMBSHELLS I've read the first two trades and bought the third and I think I'm ready to break down and get the last two during this pre Black Friday sale they have right now. I know they have a new bombshells series out? I don't know much about it tho 7y
queerbookreader @silentrequiem Mockingbird is actually the one I haven't read yet, I haven't gotten around to her second trade. Is it like, painfully steeped in CW2? I've begun to read Deadpool: World's Greatest v6 which is his CW2 tie in, but I've heard his involvement is brief so I'll take a chance. I am just REALLY looking forward to all of these characters and series moving on from CW2 and pretending it didn't happen. I would love that. 7y
silentrequiem @queerbookreader Highly rec Mockingbird! Her CW volume was her on a cruise ship to escape CW. It was awesome. 7y

I really enjoyed this - though it got a little close to Civil War II which I know is going to break my heart.
