Brought up in a series of foster homes and institutions in the West Midlands, Goldie was neglected and abused for years. He turned to a life of crime in his teenage years, and became a burglar and safe-cracker with a serious drug problem.

He is from a rough background but he did everything - acting, producing, graffiti, DJing. He went to New York to reinvent himself. People tried to put him in different boxes, but he was beyond that."
