Graywacke Inferno is a more obvious answer, since for me it changed the nature of literature and world building. Two classics: I Know Why the Cages Bird Sings-Maya Angelou, If Beale Street Could Talk-James Baldwin. A personal favorite: Into the Wild-Jon Krakauer. A Nabokov favorite: Invitation to a Beheading. And a surprisingly terrific anthology of place (i adore this): Island Fire: Anthology of Literature from Hawai‘i-Cheryl & James Harstad (edited) 3y
