Definitely a good book. A Christian fiction that does not sugar coat reality. His later works seem to kind have this worship of senior non commissioned officers.

Met the author at a conference last year and was intrigued by the plot and premise. But the book plods along and never picks up any momentum. I got about 11 chapters in and had to quit.
UPDATE: Had several friends tell me what a great read this was so I picked up where I left off and gave it another try. The second half held my interest better than the first did and I'll likely check out the second in the series.
I usually try hard not to post a bad review...I hated this book....I almost bailed twice but I trudged on. I cannot express my agony...it was boring, very explicit and to me...just bad. So sorry to the author who did a lot of research and worked very hard on this book....totally my opinion
