This was a fun romp and even though I love Lois MCMaster Bujold‘s fantasy writings, I wasn‘t sure about this one based on the description. Turning the “damsel-in-distress” trope on its head isn‘t enough to make something a good story, but luckily the characters are well-written and the universe building is top notch.

Novella. Rather a whirlwind, comedy of errors. The occasional sexual/male slurs were shocking, but this was published in 1986 and in general the details of the all-male planet population were respectfully handled. Aged pretty okay, I guess?

This cover has pointedly nothing whatsoever to do with the plot or characters.

I was really enjoying this read...until my Kindle broke on me 😔 A new one is on it's way and I usually don't rely on it so much, but I don't like reading ebooks in lit up screens, so can't keep reading atm.

JoScho Oh no! How did it break? 7y
