Not my favorite, but an inclusive conversation starter for kids. It felt like this book reenforced the inflexible male/female binary roles when these kids wanted to know which mom did what. That came off a bit like “well if you don‘t have a dad to do manly things with then who does them with you?” I‘ve always hated the idea that only dads do certain things with their kids and only moms do other things. #LGBTQIA #QueerFamilies #PictureBook

This was cute! My wife and I are planning on fostering to adopt in the next few years, and I sometimes wonder if it will be difficult for our kids to explain their family situation. I would consider buying a physical copy of this, although depending on how old the kid is, it might go over their head. I love the cover of this book and the fact that this family might look like ours. #Netgalley #ARC #childrens #queerbooks

I love how casually this book addresses a family with same-sex parents. The kids are curious (as all children are) about how a family different from theirs might function at dinnertime, playtime, or whenever. There is no negativity toward the main character, just natural curiosity and a conversation between friends. (Ctnd in comments) #netgalley

readinginthedark While my son has met some of my friends in homosexual relationships, none of them have children. So, I appreciated that this gave me a positive way to approach the topic with him. And it spurred a great discussion between us about all different kinds of families! 8y
Suet624 My grandson has two mommies. lately he's been asking about why there are daddies. 😁 8y
readinginthedark @Suet624 That's awesome! There's A Tale of Two Daddies, too, but I haven't read that one yet. Kids are so curious. My son always wonders how his cousin makes do with only one parent at a time, so we've talked about that a bit, too. 8y
Suet624 There are so many varieties of families 😀 8y

I like this book. It doesn't try to explain two mommies, but more that your parents are your parents and they will be there when you need it.
