The irresistible tale of friends Biscuit and Berry and their efforts at financial betterment reveals how wealthy Uncle Paterson was caught short and rushed to cover, while Aunt Vera, an old campaigner in the field of love, hedged the market with a double play.

Big Money | P G Wodehouse
Pickpick

This author kept popping up all over the place, even Orwell wrote an essay in defence of Wodehouse so I finally caved and read one of his books. Mostly I'd been told how funny Wodehouse is and I concur; the humour reminded me of Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of being Earnest". Wodehouse will be my go-to read when I need light frivolity between my more serious ("literature") reads.

"He [Lord Bisketon - not the sharpest tool in the shed, imho] also stated that in his opinion bigamy, being, as it was, merely the normal result of a generous nature striving to fulfil itself, ought not to be punishable at law." Ba ha ha.?

MariettaSG Another hilarious quote? "There are two schools of thought concerning the correct method of dealing with boys who throw stones at their elders and betters in the public street. Some say they should be kicked, others that they should be smacked on the head. Lord Hoddesdon, [father of Biskerton-apple doesn't fall far], no bigot, did both. " 8y
