I would categorize this as a YA book. I enjoyed the character development and the relationship between the grandmother and granddaughter, but the plot was too implausible.

I loved this book. A feel good story about a serious topic and time in US history - 1960s civil rights. The characters - the grandmother, granddaughter and her friends are funny, lovable and true to life.
