Taking up where "The Witches of Eileanan" left off, we find Meghan o' the Beasts and her young charge Isabeau, outcasts in a land where magic has been outlawed. But the pair are soon separated, and Isabeau is wounded by witchfinders, and saved by a group of samaritans. Meghan sets out to find Isabeau's warrior-trained twin, Iseult, and a missing prince living under an ancient curse. Separately, the two parties must make their way through a land where magic is punished by death, seeking allies to spread the news -- that the Witches are returning, and the Queen and her evil must fall.

Again I enjoyed narration by Newlands. I didnt enjoy as much as bk 1, I found some characters irritating, particularly Lachlan. I found his character selfish & self absorbed. He doesnt take responsibility for how his actions affect others
I found the ending of bk 2 frustrating as it definitely left things hanging, but now Im eager to continue series to see where story goes
Whilst I found some things irritating it was also what kept me reading on

Continuing reading ‘The Witches of Eileanan‘ with book two. Bachaiche‘s grumpiness is starting to be a pain in the neck.

humouress Reading on... The witches are currently outlawed in Eileannan and continue to practice their rites in secret. But I have to wonder, since they came from another world, if their rites have any power on this world? 6y
humouress Hah! Just worked out that the dreaded Awl is the acronym for the Anti-Witchcraft League. Sometimes these things have to be spelled out for me. 🤯 6y

I love how each section of these books are titled. There are those known as 'The Weavers', the ones who weave the threads of fate, what is to come. This is book 2 I'm currently on. Loving it so far!
