so-so
I love books where people can see and talk to ghosts. This one was a quick read but certain things made it just so-so for me. For instance, is this line something a 15-year-old would say? My experience says no, but that pops up a few different times (seriously). Also insta-love, confusing narrative, and a too-fast resolution.
Good news is my fever broke while reading so I'm all smiles!
melbeautyandbooks I'm with you. What 15 year old says potty? 8y
readinginthedark I felt the same way, but earlier this year I was working with a twenty-one-year-old who always said "potty" and "tinkle" when she needed to step off the sales floor! So maybe it depends on the nature of the character? I wasn't sure how to react, anyway... 8y
[DELETED] 1409720085 Adults who say "potty" make me cringe. Really anyone saying "potty" actually...I bought this book and now I'm kind of regretting it. Word choice is a big deal to me. The book I'm reading now has used "brusquely" three times already and it's driving me crazy. 8y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa It's funny, I wasn't a big user of the word "potty" until my nephew came along and we were all trying to potty train him and using that word often and encouragingly. It sunk into my brain, and next thing you know I excused myself at work to go to the potty...boy did I get funny looks, I felt like I needed to apologize for using that word in an adult setting. Apparently my vocabulary is way more easily trained then my nephew's bathroom habits, LOL! 8y
