Good Night Owl is a reread as my 3yo grabbed it and made sure I borrowed it! Lots of beginning readers for the 5yo - part of his Kindergarten homework packet is to read a book a day, write their titles down and pick one book to draw a picture about. Or if they can't really read yet, a book that a parent reads to them each day. He's been reading a bit on his own before this, reluctantly, but now that it's homework he's happy to do it! 😂
BookNerdBritt I've heard from a couple of friends who teach kinder how much their kids LOVE getting homework. I teach 3rd. My, how that attitude changes within a few years! 8y
angrylilasian @BookNerdBritt That's so funny! My husband taught 4th and 5th grade for years before reaching 2nd. He was so surprised how excited kids were about homework! Does school stop being fun in 3rd grade?? 8y
angrylilasian We love Click Clack Boo! We're starting to get into the Halloween books now. 8y

BookNerdBritt @angrylilasian Most of my kids enjoy school, but 2nd to 3rd is a huge transition in terms of what's expected of them - more independence, more responsibility, harder work, etc. 8y
RealLifeReading @BookNerdBritt @angrylilasian how interesting! And also good to know about the third grade thing... school here is completely new to us as my husband and I grew up in Singapore which pushes kids a lot harder (in some preschools they're even given spelling tests and not just three or four letter words!) 8y
BookNerdBritt @RealLifeReading Wow!! 8y
