For Lady Julia Grey and Nicholas Brisbane, the honeymoon has ended...but the adventure is just beginning. After eight idyllic months in the Mediterranean, Lady Julia Grey and her detective husband are ready to put their investigative talents to work once more. At the urging of Julia's eccentric family, they hurry to India to aid an old friend, the newly-widowed Jane Cavendish. Living on the Cavendish tea plantation with the remnants of her husband's family, Jane is consumed with the impending birth of her child -and with discovering the truth about her husband's death. Was he murdered for his estate? And if he was, could Jane and her unborn child be next? Amid the lush foothills of the Himalayas, dark deeds are buried and malicious thoughts flourish. The Brisbanes uncover secrets and scandal, illicit affairs and twisted legacies. In this remote and exotic place, exploration is perilous and discovery, deadly. The danger is palpable and, if they are not careful, Julia and Nicholas will not live to celebrate their first anniversary.

I can‘t believe there is only 1 lady grey book left. This one has Julia and Brisbane on their 8 month honeymoon! When Julia‘s family shows up whisking them away to India. We meet some familiar faces and some new ones. Julia wants to try and solve the mystery before her husband, which is so annoying. They would be so much better if they just worked together.

Doing some backlist catchup because I have renewed this at the library a whole bunch of times in favor of prioritizing newer releases and I should probably let them have it back.

robinb I can‘t remember if I‘ve read this one or not...I stopped somewhere along the way because my library didn‘t have some of the latest. 6y
mdemanatee @robinb it‘s #4 in Julia Grey. I went with the library because they‘re out of print, my library had them, and it was less effort than trying to order a used copy. I think it only goes to 5 with some ebook novellas that appear to be bonus content rather than would impede overall narrative. (edited) 6y
robinb @mdemanatee OK, I just did a little research. I stopped reading after The Dark Enquiry because that was the last one in printed form. However I‘m happy to say I went ahead then and purchased the final four for my Kindle (just haven‘t got to them yet). Thanks for the reminder! 😄 6y

Darker and even deadlier than previous ones in this series...left me a little melancholy. Love how these characters and story lines just keep seamlessly unfolding. #romantsy #osrbc

#photoadaynov16 #headlesscovers. The only Lady Julia book I really didn't care for. When Raybourn sets a book in an exotic locale, it never quite rings true for me.
