Wow, that was kind of a slog. Super creepy, interesting premise, and I did keep reading to find out how things resolved. That said, it was way too long (100 pages could easily have been cut) and felt repetitive. All of the characters were annoying or hate-worthy at some point. The action scenes were confusing and the denouement was kind of odd, abrupt, and lacking after the long build-up.

In addition to the Reichl memoir/cookbook, I started this the other night. It was already creepy by chapter two and is getting more unsettling as I get further in. I love the inspiration, a real house in the author's neighborhood that turned over tenants often; this book imagines a reason for people not staying. 😬
