Great book. Kept me engaged the whole time. I have been in a reading slump lately but not with this one. How far would you go to keep a promise? How long would you keep it? A DNA test, discovery of a biological father she didn‘t know existed. I like the way the author parallels the past and the present in this book.

If you liked Nightingale by this same author, you will like this book. The beginning reminded me a bit of Stephan King‘s, “The Shining” because of the increasing darkening behavior by the father. While I found parts a bit predictable, it did stir up my emotions. A good read overall.

Anyone here belong to a book club? Ever been in a situation where you knew in advance that the discussion was going to be VERY uncomfortable? This is our couples book club pick for this month. And one of our members is Afro-American. Feeling nervous......

This book was a pick for our couples book club. I must add that one of ours members is Afro American, the rest are white. I am a bit nervous about how this discussion is going to go. 😳
I loved the intensity in which the author describes each character and feel it is a well written book. But the subject matter is quite disturbing.

I recommend this book to everyone that asks me what to read. Excellent story line with a few twists, especially at the end. Story of three girls, their mother and each of their relationships with their father and each one is very different. A great read!

StrawberryShortcake85 Thanks for the recommendation ☺ 8y
