My “currently reading” stack (and I‘m loving them all).
My last book of 2023 was Lucy Worsley‘s enjoyable middle grade novel about Jane Austen‘s nieces. I‘ve been feeling a little Egypt-ish of late so I‘m going to dive into the tagged book that‘s been on my TBR for several years now. I‘m trying to start the new year off by continuing to whittle down the backlog of books on my shelves… let‘s see how long that lasts! 😆

pickStarted off as a five star for me. A compelling young narrator full of the wonder and excitement of Egypt and a clarity well researched pull into the life of the archaeologists there. Pivoting around something as momentous as the finding of tutenkamun tomb the story seemed to get a bit lost and I am not sure the split timeline added much. Still a solid pick and absolutely full of the sense of time and place #booked2023 📸 valley of the kings
pickSo well written and researched. I am studying Egyptology and to see the events presented in a way that really brings them to life for anyone regardless of whether they have any prior knowledge of the facts is fantastic. My first James Patterson read but definitely won't be my last.
