November #MonthlyNonfiction2025 reads @julieclair
#NonfictionNovember was a busy one ☺️

I‘m so proud of myself for sticking to only nonfiction for an entire month! These are the books I finished for #nonfictionnovember
Now it‘s time to let fiction back into my reading world!

My selections for #nonfictionnovember were all over the place, but I was glad to have finally read The Secret Lives of Bats and, not being a sports fan, Leveling the Ice was still a very good read. I was surprised and thrilled with how good Batman Resurrection was, and Brubaker/Philips and O'Neil were both reliably excellent in their graphic novels.

Nina Willner tells the incredible true story of two Jewish boys —one of them her father, Eddie —who miraculously escaped after 3 years in various Nazi death camps and found their way to rescue by a company of U.S. Army 3rd Armored Division tankers. It‘s a truly remarkable story of perseverance and the triumph of the human spirit in the face of inhumanity and depravity.

This short book packs a big punch. Sport journalist Steven Sandor looks at the culture of hockey and what has been/is being/can be done about its tendency to exclude on the basis of race and class. He is not afraid to examine his own part behavior, but he mostly relies on interviews with players and executive, and deep dives into past controversies, to make his case. A clear, strong voice talking about a vital societal concern. #nonfictionnovember

I‘ve been reading this a chapter a week with my book club, and it has been very enjoyable. Magnetic North is a travel log from a woman in the Arctic, and this edition had an afterword ten years later after climate change had really started to take hold. #NonFictionNovember

I liked that this book looked at climate change from more of a non-western point of view that I usually see. I also appreciated the comparison between Pope Francis‘ Laudato si‘ and the Paris Climate Accord. #Naturalitsy @AllDebooks #NonfictionNovember

It took me all month to read this just because I knew the ending, and it‘s so easy to judge in hindsight. I‘m glad I persevered though because the afterword was excellent. #NonfictionNovember

This book has a lot of succinct humpback whale information, + black and white and color photographs. It suited my purpose to prepare me for a whale watching tour perfectly. It was published in the 1990s so I don‘t know that I would necessarily recommend it as I‘m sure there are other books with more updated research.
I took this where we saw a mother and calf near Lahaina, intending to take it with whales, but living in the moment won!
