Although this is one of my favorite authors, I didn‘t buy this immediately when it was released. I was hesitant to read a story about passengers on the Titanic. After all, we know basically what happened. I was wrong. This is a well written, thoroughly researched novel about family dynamics and the choices we make - not only how they affect us, but those around us. Definitely worth reading.

Reading time in doctor‘s office, with both hubby‘s Kindle and mine on my lap while he‘s having his procedure. Getting lots of reading done.

I had started a book not in the database, a historical romance that was described as steamy. I bailed. I‘m no prude, but it was just over the top. Instead, I‘m going to start this new novel by one of my favorite authors.

Susanita That‘s how I felt about the second Outlander book! 2w

I very much enjoyed The Household. There‘s a fantastic cast of characters and it‘s beautifully written. Charles Dickens even features! It‘s an interesting plot line with a few twists and turns. I liked that it was about a real house, Urania House, one of Charles Dickens‘ projects, a home for fallen women funded by Coutts bank. An absorbing and engaging read.

I enjoyed this book a lot, loved the characters and especially the prayers.
I thought Western weren‘t my thing, but I love to try new things (okay, only book related, I actually don‘t like trying new things 😬) and I will definitely check out other books from the series and like I said in a previous post I already put other books by Kristina Hall on my TBR. 😊

One of reasons I love historical fiction is I learn new things about history. This one, set in NYC in 1939, was somewhat light in that department - although I did learn a few new things. In spite of that lack, it was a fun read about a young Jewish woman who becomes a spy in order to stop as assassination attempt. The story had interesting characters and settings, some action and romance and kept me entertained. 3.75/5 stars!

In 1847 the famed Angela Burdett Courts of the banking fame is busy constructing an experimental "Safe house."
Alongside Charles Dickens
they run a house for fallen girls.
Broken homes, prison, the streets and workhouse or orphanages.
All are welcome IF they agree to try to improve themselves and make ready for a new life in the colonies in Australia.
But behind the scenes Angela is suffering, living with the mental trauma of a stalker.

A library book. I‘m looking forward to reading this as I loved The Familiars and The Foundling. I haven‘t read Mrs England yet.
