Read it for the excellent dialogue. So fun. Highly recommend to anyone who loves eavesdropping.

I remember when this show first premiered introducing the Duggar‘s. I was immediately intrigued by this large family and their way of living. As years passed and that initial documentary blew up into a full series, I watched in curiosity to see how these children would grow up, date, and navigate adulthood. I never realized how strict their upbringing really was. This was a very insightful look into their lives but also quite disturbing.

I have feelings of hostility towards Ms Mcfadden. How could she treat Sugar this way?! This was well written but so very grim.

She did a great job telling her story & I totally feel for her. We‘ve dealt with quite a similar situation (in regards to how they dress) with my husbands family - just not in the public eye. My husband wore shorts for the 1st time in his life this year - he‘s 33. When I graduated nursing school 8 years ago I wore scrubs & was chastised so badly by his family. I still wear skirts to this day.

Classic Claire Malloy! One of my favorites, I‘d say. Claire is roped into assisting at the Miss Thurberfest pageant when her best friend Luanne sprains an ankle - due to an errant nail on the stage. Next, a sandbag narrowly misses the reigning Queen. Old building or sabotage? Lots of fun!

I‘m really surprised by the tepid response to this one, as I really liked it. It‘s quieter than her debut and quite nuanced, with every character showing their flaws and making bad choices in a way that feels fully human. A great read for me that was hard to put down.

Amor4Libros This sounds good, stacked! 🤗 3mo

August bookclub choice, enjoying the voice of the precocious Mattie Ross.

What a wonderful book borrowed from the library, I plan to buy a copy to keep for re-reading.

I saw the prompt yesterday but completely forgot to post any friendship story recommendations.

The Lions of Little Rock is both a wonderful story of friendship and an important historical fiction set in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1958.

The Unteachables is a fun book about a class of students that are considered unteachable, but come together as friends over the course of the story. It‘s also got plenty of humor.
