It‘s unusual to read a historical fiction set in ancient Mesopotamia, and I appreciated experiencing that culture. Jomar & Zefa are a brother & sister sent to the city of Ur to find a new life when their family is facing starvation on their farm. Jomar is apprenticed to a goldsmith, and Zefa tries to find her way as a musician.

I admittedly picked this up because of the cover…love it!

YA Fantasy featuring sorcerers and fortune tellers and a MC with a snarky attitude and sharp wit…great story! I breezed through this one and found the layers of magic fascinating. There are grisly murder scenes - not overly graphic, but with enough detail you get the picture - and a dash of romance. One false step, and everything could #GoDownInFlames . #TeenAngst #BBRC

Duck is the youngest of a gang of street urchins, moving from town to town picking pockets & stealing what they need to get by. Their leader cooks up (bakes up? 😆) a scheme to install Duck as an apprentice baker so she can slip them bread & coin from the bakery—a worthy plan until Duck grows conflicted about taking advantage of the master baker who shows her such trust & kindness. i like this book.i like how the book is diverse. I also like that the book is not too hard if a read and it is easy to comprehend. The book takes place in New work and the main character mother is a witch. The mother was trying to help teach her son majic.

I really like the illustrations in the book, I think that it keeps children engaged in the reading and what‘s happening. I feel like children really love dragons and fantasy so they‘d really love this book

Tagged is my middle grade choice!

The characters are endearing including a curmudgeony gargoyle! The setting in medieval times is fun too! The story of an orphan searching/finding a “home” is always a good premise! Well done! 👏🏼

Just started this MG book and I‘m hooked-the first chapter is narrated by a very personable gargoyle!

A fine addition to the Ranger's Apprentice series. A "throwback" book in the middle of the series can be a little off putting, but I didn't mind since it has been a while since I stopped at book 6. This was a reintroduction to the characters. It was an exciting read with enough intrigue and action to keep the pages turning. Flanagan has created a fantastic world.
