By anyone else's standard as a conclusion to a first series this would be pretty good but you can definitely see the growth of Kristoff as a writer when compared to his later series The Nevernight Chronicles (one of my favourite series in the last few years). A good conclusion to the trilogy but I did find myself wishing it would get a move on, not a sensation I'm used to with Kristoff. Still a pick and worth reading, glad I finished the series.

I have mixed feelings about The Lotus Wars series. It just didn't grab me. I found myself skimming over parts of it, just so I could finish. I can't pinpoint why. There was plenty of action, interesting characters and plot, but I just couldn't get into it.

I went into the series after having read Nevernight which I absolutely loved & so I had certain expectations that weren't met

It may just be that it wasnt the right series for me right now

Tera66 Too bad, its a great cover 4y
LazyOwl @Tera66 I agree, the cover is pretty 4y

This trilogy had me completely immersed in this #steampunk world. I want my own griffon to fly on!

#fantasy

BiblioNyan I remember trying out the first book but in the end I couldn't finish it because of how terrible the cultural appropriation was. But the premise is definitely fascinating! 8y
speljamr I get it. If this was an historical fiction piece I'd be more concerned with the cultural appropriation, but it's not. This is a fantasy setting, so I'm OK with things being different than real life. 8y
