Shirley Jackson's "The Tooth" is an immersive, strange story dealing with the many ways women have found themselves as ghosts (and a great 50s/60s tone). And James' "Oh Whistle" is one for a chilly fall night in a closed down resort town. James is great at creating simple yet dreadful images that linger in the mind! LectricSheep I read "Oh Whistle" the other night out loud to my boyfriend (we've been reading ghost stories for October), and right at the climactic scene my phone buzzed annnnd I screamed and dropped the book. 8y
