While this audiobook started out somewhat slowly and, as an audiobook, was a little hard to follow as it switched between four characters, once the wonderful madness began it didn‘t really let up. It‘s both a family drama and a monster story, which I love! Definitely unique and like nothing I can remember reading before. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

With a dark fairytale vibe and vibrant writing this story of two sisters transported me to their creepy island home somewhere in Lake Eerie.

It's a bit difficult to explain the plot without giving too much away, but I will say that I enjoyed this weird tale. Told from four different female POVs, with a bit of horror, a bit of magic, and even a monster, I found myself lost in this chilling look into isolation and family secrets.

Half-sisters Beatrice and Henrietta Volt are closer than twins for most of their childhood on their secluded island home in Lake Eerie. Split between 1989 and 2000, across different perspectives, the truths and secrets at the heart of Fowler Island slowly unravel to monstrous truths. A mixture of family drama, the supernatural & spookiness makes for a visual & original novel! It‘s an intriguing and fairytale-tinged read that I thoroughly enjoyed!
