Charlaine Harris #1 "New York Times" bestselling author delivers a strong and authentic ("The Mystery Reader") Aurora Teagarden Mystery. Though Roe has proven she can handle just about anything, this part-time librarian may not be ready for the full-time crises that comes her way Aurora Teagarden s life finally seems to have settled into a comfortable pattern. Her marriage to Martin is going well, she s back at work at the Lawrenceton library and she hasn t found a dead body in quite a while. But then one afternoon her handyman goes crazy in her front yard. Roe suspects this is a sign of more bad things to come. And she is right. Soon Martin s niece, Regina, shows up with a baby that no one knew she had. Then she disappears, leaving behind the child and a murdered husband. To find her, Roe and Martin retrace her steps from sunny Georgia back to snowy Ohio, where they will uncover dark family secrets at their own peril "

I thought this book was compelling. I had read the descriptions of all the books in the series, so I knew something was going to happen that I didn‘t like. It made me sad and I‘m angry with the author right now. But I‘m glad I knew what was coming so I would be prepared.

KathyWheeler I thought I‘d read this but apparently not. It looks like I got aggravated with the one before this one and quit reading after it. 1y
CatLass007 @KathyWheeler What aggravated you? This series is considerably better than her Sookie Stackhouse novels. I know a lot of people didn‘t care for Martin. But I liked him. 1y
KathyWheeler @CatLass007 Aurora did. I just liked her less and less after she got married. She also made a couple of throwaway, casual racist remarks that really got on my nerves. Also, I liked Martin before they got married and didn‘t like him afterward. I only ever read the first two Sookie Stackhouse books. 1y
CatLass007 @KathyWheeler I can see that. 1y

I both like and dislike this series. Ro is so judgmental, but I'm hoping the twist at the end brings some character growth to her since I already have the next couple of books in the series!

Okay, nothing was coming to mind immediately for this prompt so I pulled this book up on Goodreads. Can you believe I read it ten years ago? 😲I barely remember it. The Aurora Teagarden books are not my favorite of Harris‘s cozy mystery series but you can count on at least one #PoorMisguidedFool to show up in them or any cozy.😉

Cinfhen I wonder how far back my GoodReads goes??? I doubt 10 years ❣️❣️❣️ 5y

The last book in this series had me questioning if I was going to read the next book. The books seemed to go down hill instead of getting better. So glad I kept reading. This was by far the best one of the series so far! We'll see what the next has in store.

CRAZY AND JUST NO!
This is one of these books that you need to buddy read with someone just so you can talk about it!

I thought that this book, number six in the series was close to jumping the shark so to speak. 4⭐️'s

Whoa. Just whoa... Just when you think this series is settling into a rhythm, something big happens!

Now I to find a copy of the 7th book since my library does not have the ebook available and my regular branch doesn't have it in print.

LauraBrook I know, right? So didn't see any part of the ending coming. Hope you can get the next book ASAP!!! 8y

Forgot this one! It was good, and the last 1/3 was pretty intense! Sad and happy w the outcome.

DiruVamp I read her Sookie series - how do these compare? 9y
LauraBrook @DiruVamp Uhhhm, they're different but similar. For me, pacing is a little off in these Roe books (they're earlier than her Sookie ones, mostly), and I didn't like these characters as much as Sookie. The main lady (Roe) is a small town librarian and death seems to happen... 9y
LauraBrook @DiruVamp ...around her in strange ways. It seems more stereotypical "small town" than Sookie. And the 80s/90s fashion is thriving here. I liked them, they were easy & fun & I couldn't always figure them out-overall I liked Sookie better. I'll read anything she writes, pretty much. Try the 1st one! 9y
LauraBrook @DiruVamp They're like a non-paranormal Sookie book if Sookie was a little dumber. 9y
DiruVamp @LauraBrook it does sound interesting. The Sookie books were entertaining for sure towards the end of the series it became a little...old but I always enjoyed them. I'll give the first one a try. Thanks!! 9y
