Keeping warm with the story of Ada Blackjack, only survivor of the ill-fated 1921 Wrangle Island Arctic Expedition. Oh, and Vic the cat survives too!

One of the best books on survival. This true story is beautifully written with such vivid details that you can picture the whole tragedy as it was. My heart was broken after reading it and I felt numb and helpless for a long time.

#FunFridayPhoto I read lots o' arctic/antarctic books, and this stands out as one of the best. Lone survivor of one of the most harrowing tales of a disastrous expedition. And she stayed to take care of a dying man while the rest went for help. A hero to be admired.
