Li Juan spends a winter season with a herding family in Kazakhstan and writes a detailed account. The difficulty of this way of life simply can't be exaggerated, but I still enjoyed learning more about the daily life, the innovation and crafting, the sparse diets and their impacts, and gaining an understanding of how this practice of moving to a winter pasture may soon be impossible due to climate change.
