I find it interesting that Italy, the country of the Vatican was the most secular country at the end of the Middle Ages/beginning of the Renaissance. One would think Italy would be the most religious as the Pope sits in Rome, but it seems if other countries were more religious. It is possible because maybe the other countries were trying too hard to show the Pope a fake piety that ended up hurting their overall progress.
I haven‘t heard that David was formerly a Phillistine mercenary. This tiny detail should be discussed more.
