A shocking thriller by the bestselling author of Girls of Glass. It seems like an open-and-shut case for FBI special agent Lucy Thorne when Eliza Cook walks into the field office. The teenage girl confesses to murdering a young boy. Disturbingly composed, she reveals chilling details only the killer could know. Beyond that Eliza doesn't say another word, leaving a vital question met with dead silence: Why did she do it? To find the answer, Lucy goes to the scene of the crime in the small Idaho town of Knox Hollow. But Lucy's questions are only mounting. Especially when she's drawn deeper into the life of the victim. Then a combing of the woods yields unsettling evidence that Eliza isn't the only one in this close-knit rural community with secrets. Getting to the truth is becoming Lucy's obsession. And it's a dangerous one. Because for the good folks of Knox Hollow, hiding that truth will take more than silence.

This was almost perfect as a thriller let down a little bt the straw out ending. Teenager Eliza arrives at the fbi office in Seattle in the middle of the night and confesses to a murder insistent yo speak to only 1 person. What emeres is a creepy tale of a small town and a cult like church community where secrets and half truths@are commonplace. A good way to spend a couple of hours after a busy week.

🎧 FBI Agent Lucy Thorne listens to the confession. Eliza Cook says she‘s killed a young boy with great detail then clams up.

This should be a cut & dry case but Lucy travels to the small town of Knox Hollow to dig deeper.

There‘s a sinister minister … this book is rife with religious fervor & atrocities in the name of their god.

Lucy will get to the bottom of not this one killing but many mysterious disappearances.

⭐️⭐️⭐️4/5

Twainy This was an Amazon Prime First Read, a free Kindle book & the Audible edition was only $1.99. Well worth it!! 3y

An excellent choice for crime fiction enthusiasts. This one kept up my steady attention, but as the tale approached the climax of the book, I was hooked. I literally raced through the last 30 pages and had one of those moments that are just great in books like this – you know the ones where you find yourself saying to yourself, “Nuh uh! That didn‘t just happen.” For me, a great ending just “makes” a book.

I didn‘t figure out who the culprit was till about three quarters through, and even then doubted myself. The plot was complicated enough to keep my interest and the characters were believable. I‘d read another from this author!

Made a great haul from Bookman‘s the other day. Found out by accident it‘s buy nine, get one free. Get this...the most expensive one is free!!! Great used bookstores! It‘s got my husband reading again (those are his Brad Thor) and exciting finds for our son. Plus, so new authors for me! ❤️
