Pickpick

This is a pick because I can't recall reading a book in which nearly ALL the characters are so despicable in their own way that you want to see them thru to hell. The author was successful in creating a lasting impression. In the afterward, she writes feeling sorry for Tom, I don't see anything in him to be sorry for - he's portrayed as lazy and foolish. I trust she's done the research and her story is as accurate as a fictional account allows.

#fablesandfolklore made me think of Sharyn McCrumb's ballad series, which is based on Appalachian folklore. #uncannyoctober

MC is rather unlikeable. She'd rather give an entire town "the pox" to be cured herself, and the same even if she wasn't cured. ? It's hard to say I'm "enjoying" a book when I don't like the MC. Her sister is about the same. I guess hard times create hard people.
