A funny, lighthearted read set in rural 1960s Yorkshire. I think I‘ve been reading too much heavy stuff as I kept expecting dark twists & turns which didn‘t happen, but actually that was pleasant!

Borrowed this from the library and absolutely loved it. Full of nostalgic charm that made me smile all the way through.
I really enjoyed this book, Evie is a great character, living with her father and the evil to be stepmother. Evie dreams of getting away from the town in Yorkshire she lives in. Her neighbour was great friends with Evie' deceased mother and tells her all about her life. The neighbour's daughter comes on the scene which brings great changes. It also goes back to the timeline of how Evie's parent and got together! #books
If you haven‘t read this yet, why not?! It‘s just this marvellous breath of fresh air, which to be honest was just what I needed with England‘s 2nd lockdown in sight when I started it. Evie is a 16 yr old girl from East Yorkshire in the 1960‘s, embarking on her life. She wants to work in London (or Leeds), but she has to save her dad from the clutches of the evil Christine, her soon to be stepmother, first. I LOVED this. Just what I needed!
This is a fabulous, nostalgic tale. It‘s beautifully written, highly engaging and humorous. There is a whole cast of fascinating and vibrant characters - the author did a great job of bringing them alive on the page for me. It was such a joy to read and I was so sad to turn the last page. I absolutely loved it! I was easily transported to Evie‘s world and will miss her dreadfully. I, for one, cannot wait for the sequel! #Pigeonhole
This took me a bit longer to get into than I was expecting, but once I was in, I was in. I liked Evie's voice and I really enjoyed discovering her world. It's written as her diary, which means there's a lot of fun as a reader in spotting the stuff that she's missing from her encounters. All the side characters are well drawn, and often hilarious, and I really enjoyed watching Evie's future come together. Not perfect, but lots of fun.
