Lauren Scheuer has created a sweet memoir full of adorable illustrations. She talks about her family, her dog, her garden, and the joys and heartaches of raising backyard chickens. A good resource for anyone who‘s considering chickens as well as those who are merely curious.

Right now, at the top of my #2017mostanticipatedbooks list is a title published in 2013. I've found myself in fantasy yearning for farm life and off-grid living, so have been researching books, blogs, and Instagram accounts. My favorite find has been the Scratch and Peck blog. Having almost finished, i had to order a copy of Lauren Scheuer's book, which should arrive next week. #seasonsreadings2016 @RealLifeReading

The author is a children's book illustrator, so the illustrations are all delightful and whimsical like this. You can follow her on Instagram at scheuerlauren, where there is much chicken adorableness.
