A stunning, erotic thriller by the bestselling author of Whiteness of Bones. Following the gruesome murder of a young woman in her neighborhood, a self-determined woman living in New York City--as if to test the limits of her own safety--propels herself into an impossibly risky sexual liaison. Soon she grows increasingly wary about the motives of every man with whom she has contact--and about her own.

This psychological thriller about a vicious serial killer is a oldie but a goodie. Frannie is a writing teacher focused on language use and in her free time researches linguistics, that interest reveals the #shocking ending that I did not see coming. Last two pages were like did that just happen!? Apparently also made into a terrible movie.

As predicted, I did not like this book. It‘s partially my fault. Erotica is just not my thing, and this book is clearly labeled as an “erotic thriller.” Though TBH, some scenes were downright crude, not sexy. But beyond that. the plot never came together. MC just sort of wanders around a lot. The book relied heavily on the erotic encounters for the thriller quotient, and I wanted more of the mystery story. I didn‘t like the sudden ending either.

Goodness, what an unpleasant book this is. I‘m going to finish it, because it‘s short and I need it for a reading challenge, but now I remember why I never finished it before.
