Leadership Strategy and Tactics
Leadership Strategy and Tactics: Field Manual | Jocko Willink
4 posts | 6 read | 1 reading | 1 to read
The ultimate guide on leadership from the #1 New York Times bestselling co-author of Extreme Ownership. In the military, a field manual provides instructions in simple, clear, step-by-step language to help soldiers complete their mission. In the civilian sector, books offer information on everything from fixing a leaky faucet to developing an effective workout program to cooking a good steak. But what if you are promoted into a new position leading your former peers? What if you dont get selected for the leadership position you wanted? How do you overcome imposter syndrome, when you arent sure you should be leading? As a leader, how do you judiciously dole out punishment? What about reward? How do you build trust with your both your superiors and your subordinates? How do you deliver truthful criticism up and down the chain of command in a tactful and positive way? These are all questions about leadershipthe most complex of all human endeavors. And while there are books out there that provide solid leadership principles, books like Extreme Ownership and The Dichotomy of Leadership, there is no leadership field manual that provides a direct, situational, pragmatic how-to guide that anyone can instantly put to use. Until now. Leadership Strategy and Tactics explains how to take leadership theory, quickly translate that theory into applicable strategy, and then put leadership into action at a tactical level. This book is the solution that leaders at every level neednot just to understand the leadership game, but also how to play the leadership game, and win it.

I have now finished “Leadership Strategy and Tactics” by Jocko Willink. This book has helped me a lot with being more vocal about my opinion when it comes to getting things done; as well showing how hardwork can get anything done. I found that in the start of the book Jocko talked more about his own personal military stories, which I really enjoyed. However, as the book progressed on he talked more on the business and economic side of leadership.

noah.Kinniburgh This is still good knowledge but as a person who is not a ceo, I did not find it that interesting. If you like books that help you over come your challenges and tell you ways to come outside your comfort zone then this book is for you. The theme present in this novel is leadership and business as well as a narrator/ first person POV. 3y
MissYaremcio Thank you for the review Noah! I'm glad you were able to learn something from it! I was just wanting more on how the POV is established. 5/6 3y

Pickpick

I am currently half way through the book “Leadership strategy and Tactics” by Jocko Willinik. My summary of the book so far is it is a mix of advice and story telling all used to help you be a better person and leader. Jocko dives into his own personal experiences that he had to face as well as advice for people when it comes to all aspects of life. If you like books that give you real life knowledge that you can apply almost anywhere in life

noah.Kinniburgh Then this is the book for you. The theme present in this novel is leadership and perseverance. This is applied in the novel by Jocko going into his own experiences in his life. 3y
MissYaremcio Well done Noah! Sounds like a good read! 6/6 3y

I wandered into the office a few weeks ago, was told my boss‘ boss was looking for me, and learned that I was to be part of a “book club” at work. I tried (and am trying) to be excited, but I doubt we will ever be reading the kinds of books I enjoy... The book itself contains useful information for leaders and aspiring leaders, but I really didn‘t enjoy having to sift through the rest of its macho content to find it.
