Now freelancing from south Florida, Dr. Kay Scarpetta returns to Richmond, Virginia, the city that turned its back on her five years ago. In most Kay books the crime solving tech &villains are the focus. This had meaningful character interactions (❤️sometimes there are 0) but she consistently leaves huge emotional conflicts off the page &there‘s a big 1 here.

I cannot believe she named the villain Edgar Allen Pogue. He has a (fake) history with the characters as if we would not remember an Edgar Allen Pogue. PC, you have to leave these breadcrumbs. TLP/Lucy‘s plot becomes asinine.

5feet.of.fury The ending also completely fizzled out. & some the endings have been worth whatever shenanigans went on in the middle. 11mo

Although it gave me some good points for #Scarathon, I can‘t recommend this one and I‘ve read most of the series. The characters were more “woe is me”, the writing somewhat repetitive and the overall murder mystery/thrill rush just fell off completely. Positives: I got 10 hours of reading towards #31by31 Readathon, a #ScarathonDailyPrompt for multiple victims, and a lot of word search words points to add to this week for #TeamSlaughter!

14-2020 ⭐️⭐️ (Re-Read) Audiobook 7
I realise there are more main characters but I really dislike the third person narration. Maybe as this is book 13 in the series I just have higher expectations.

It wasn't my favourite Scarpetta book but I still enjoyed it, got bored at times though. Kay does really annoy me as a main character at times 😂

Booksnchill Agreed I think she is just getting too annoying! 5y
suzie.reads @Booksnchill I've always struggled especially with her obsession with Lucy but this one was worse. Hoping Predator is better 😊 5y

I really couldn't get into this book for some reason. Not sure if it was the story that bored me, or what was happening with the characters, but I was totally bored and drifting off while reading it.

I have a ton of #onewordtitles for #photoadaynov16 I mean I am a huge Stephen King fan, however, I spent the day finishing N0S4A2 and I am emotionally drained and lazy. This is the book I pulled from the living room bookshelf to take to the bedroom shelf.
