Gorey loved the books of Agatha Christie, and The Awdrey-Gore Legacy is his affectionate spoof of her country-house mysteries.
The book opens with the discovery of fictional crime-writer Ms. Awdrey-Gore's body, and proceeds by presenting a disconnected series of 'clues' and speculations as to her whereabouts for the last 40-odd years, how she was murdered and a catalogue of suspects, none of which is likely to lead to a resolution!

Bookwomble I love the wraparound cover with its selection of imagined books from Ms. D. Awdrey-Gore's oeuvre 📚💗📚 6y
LeahBergen This sounds wonderful! 😆 6y
Bookwomble @LeahBergen It *is* wonderful 😀 It's also absurd, oblique and non-narrative, just to give you a heads-up 😊 6y
