This book was mind-opening and the range emotion I felt was incredible. Ashley portrayed herself with no bias. At times, I loved her and was heartbroken at what she had to endure, but at others I didn‘t like her attitude even though she had all the right to act the way she did (for the most part). The system failed her and hundreds of other children, and she is amazingly strong to continue to bring attention to it. Everyone should read this novel.

Ok so the story itself is riveting. I basically can‘t stand the narrator‘s reading voice though. Now she‘s started saying, repeatedly, girls‘s and boys‘s and I cannot handle it. 😭 I cannot wrap my head around the idea that the book actually has those words in print.

MicheleinPhilly What??? You mean the narrator pronounces them like breakfasts‘s??? 4y
Reviewsbylola That‘s EXACTLY what I mean. Not just once. Not just twice. At least 20 times so far. @MicheleinPhilly 4y

Pickpick

Three little words by Ashley Rhodes-Courter is a novel and a memoir based off of the author‘s life growing up through Florida‘s foster care program and the severe situations she endured-like multiple cases of abuse. This book is more mature but would be a good read for high schoolers. . I would use this book for a LC. UDL strategy 8.3 Foster collaboration and community and EL strategy 2. Promote cooperation (small groups)

MarinaForsythe and 8. Use direct instruction: Modeling, explaining, scaffolding, name the strategy and show how to use it. Would work well in a LC. http://www.simonandschuster.com/books/Three-Little-Words/Ashley-Rhodes-Courter/9... this link is an excellent guide for a reading group. #ucflae3414f17 7y
Jbombardiere I️ haven‘t heard of this book but I‘m really interested in reading I️t. I‘m sure it‘s relatable for many young readers as well. Thanks for sharing! 7y

A very raw and heart wrenching account of a girls journey through foster care. This book was a quick read for me, but I had to pace myself through the earlier chapters so that my heart could bare her story. Highly recommend ❤️

Finished a much needed mani/pedi and now time to dive back in to my books😍. Found this little treasure at the library yesterday. Only 2 chapters in, but so far I'm enticed!
