I accidentally received the proof version rather than the final edit from ThriftBooks, but I still enjoyed it! I‘ve been trying language learning for years in school but have nothing to show for it. I liked the suggestions and tips Benny gives, and loved his section on language myths. It‘s basically a compilation of his blog. Some people were angry with his suggestions, but I think they were missing his points. I recommend his book and blog! ⬇️

RosePressedPages Also, don‘t be mislead by his use of “fluent.” He doesn‘t mean being equal to your native language in another language. He means conversational without difficulty. 3y
DannyDan This seems like a very enriching read! 3y

I picked this up based on a suggestion from a travel blog I follow. It's a great guide to learning a language in a short amount of time (aka not years). He does a good job of explaining why the current ideas about learning a language aren't that accurate and how you can go about learning a language quickly. He also lists some great resources that don't cost a lot of money. Highly recommend to anyone interested in the topic.

I expected the title of this book to be misleading, which it is (although, to be fair, Lewis explains why that is so). However, at least fifty percent of this book seems to be a pep talk rather than solid techniques for learning languages. Not only that, but Lewis offers no insights here that can't be found on his website.
