So excited about this book and discovering a new to me author! Historical fiction, middle grade. What is was like to be black and a poor immigrant in 1876 Chicago. Enough food and an 8 hour work day is a dream. 12yo friends work 12 hour days and pull “humbugs” to get enough money to feed the family. Eye opening, you will feel so grateful to the unionizers who risked their lives for the 8 hour day! 5⭐️
