I think this is a great book for kids. It teaches them the emotions behind feeling different and alone
““No I have not got all of you yet! The biggest egg is still here“ This is the egg the “ugly ducking“ is in.
The Ugly Duckling by Jerry Pinkney is a Caldecott winning traditional literature picture book about a little duckling who is considered “ugly” compared to the others, but then proves them all wrong when he turns into a beautiful swan. This story would be perfect for read alouds with your students to help them fully grasp the message of the story.
This book about a duckling being unwanted and goes out into the world and finds out who he really is. The whole time the ugly duckling was a swan, he was different from anyone else. This story is about acceptance which is key for young children to understand. This is a good traditional literature book I would use for RA so that you could also have a discussion about this topic.
