pick4✨ I really like how Lovecraft writes. He makes it even creepier with his word usage and mystery. In this short story our MC is in the middle of two people when they are killed on either side of him. There is a lot of death on this hill and for a time he believes it to be a vengeful spirit. However, the lurking fear is even creepier than that. #Scarathlon #BatBrigade @Catsandbooks
pickThere are valid issues with Lovecraft's personal views which I will not reiterate because they are well documented. Speaking only of the short story, it is typical of the mystery/horror he does so well. The atmosphere and sense of investigation are excellent. The horror elements are both traditionally overt and subtle, making the story all the creepier. The elements of historicity woven into the tale lend it a sense of verisimilitude.
