The Foundation Pit | 
pickOkay I get this book. It is a jet black at time humorous at times tragic critique of the Soviet Union in the 20 and 30‘s from the early industrialisation programs, to the suppression of the intelligentsia, to the collectivisation of the agriculture. Each of the characters reflecting an aspect of society. All starts with action and dreams but in the end nothing is built and much is lost, including the hope for the socialist future.

Libby1 @Oblomov26 - it's the shape of the box. American Chinese takeaway comes in boxes like this. In the UK, where I live now, it comes in little plastic (recyclable) boxes. I know this has NOTHING to do with this book! 8y
Oblomov26 @Libby1 lol I was being silly - in Australia it is normal to do the plastic box as well - although the us boxes are becoming popular for noodles 8y
