Princess Sultana's Daughters
Princess Sultana's Daughters | Jean Sasson
3 posts | 15 read | 2 to read
Readers of PRINCESS were gripped by Jean Sasson's powerful indictment of women's lives behind the veil. Now, in the compelling sequel, Jean Sasson and Princess Sultana turn the spotlight on Sultana's two teenage daughters, Maha and Amani.
As second-generation members of the royal family who have benefited from Saudi oil wealth, Maha and Amani are surrounded by untold opulence and luxury from the day they were born. And yet, they are stifled by the unbearably restrictive lifestyle imposed on them, driving them to desperate measures.
Throughout, Sultana and Sasson never tire of their quest to expose the injustices which society levels against women. Princess Sultana once more strikes a chord among all women who are lucky enough to have the freedom to speak out for themselves.

I'm really happy with how this series is playing out. Though these stories are mostly heartbreaking, I feel like I'm being let in on the troubles of real Saudi women. I can't believe these books are non-fiction! Definitely a must read for anyone Interested in the Middle East or women's rights!

This book is about Saudi Arabia and one family's life there. It focuses mostly on two girls trying to grow up in a unequal society. It is a shocking and interesting read. It's based on true life and that makes it even more distressing. As a book this was very good and I enjoyed it a lot. But the story itself is very tough.

Each line each page is to savor. Women with everything but freedom.

Martta This was such a good book. It was so interesting and sad to read how girls grow into women in that sort of society. 8y
