Monday Morning Leadership
Monday Morning Leadership: 8 Mentoring Sessions You Can't Afford to Miss | David Cottrell
3 posts | 5 read | 2 to read
The best business books are brief, clear and pertinent. Monday Morning Leadership fits all of those requirements. You can read the whole book in a few minutes . . . and think about and apply what you learned for a lifetime. The format is around a man who's struggling as a manager. His operation isn't performing well. His boss isn't happy. He's not happy. He doesn't have time to be with his family or to do what he likes to do. It looks like his career has peaked . . . and his job may be in jeopardy. What to do?

#truthbomb "Where you invest your time you invest your life." - Mumford Seems like to me you have to find ways to shorten tasks, eliminate rework, etc. Do less or work faster.

This book continues to cut deep. "The people at the very bottom of the chart are still on your team, so their behavior must be acceptable to you...many managers reward their falling stars by giving them less work while acknowledging them with decent performance reviews." #ouch

Had an individual 'quit me' a few months ago. It still hurts because I think very highly of them. I failed them. Still not sure where I went wrong. Does the fact that I realize I failed them count for something?!
