pickFamily bonds, twinship, queerness and the slow recovery from trauma are the subjects of this novel set mostly in Nigeria, told in three voices: those of a mother and her twin daughters. Much name-dropping of admired musicians & authors. Much food preparation, even recipes. Much mention of orange textiles. Much of a muchness, really, but there is a decent story under it all. I wouldn‘t have pegged this for the Giller longlist. #shadowgiller
